On Saturday while out on a ride with the North End Jack fell from his bike and died from his injuries in Hospital the next day.
Wednesdays rides are going to be a lot quieter now Jack has gone. He allways had a quip for the walkers and horse riders we passed on the rides.
One of his rides got a write up and there are a couple of pictures of him in the group and on the rides dotted about in the pictures.
He’s going to be missed by many.
Jack was amongst the first of many friends made when I returned to cycling this year. He made me feel part of the family that is BNECC and other fellow cyclists. Though I only knew for a short time and indeed was on the ride that took his life I will miss him. Although he constantly joked about being such a little bloke he was truly a giant amongst men.
Thanks for that Barry I’ve got to agree with you whole heartidly.
As of yet I don’t know if there is a procession for the funeral. I rode in Mels one this year as a mark of respect.
It was like riding with the CTC with Jack but at a pace that was fast enough to get me sorted.
The routes were always interesting and even if he wasn’t on the front he would be directing things from the pack. A truly remarkable man.
Can’t make it Saturday Barry but maybe Sunday.
Regards,
Frank.
Frank the procession will meet at the Basset Hound for 1100hrs on Friday 14th Dec.
Thanks for that Barry
